About the Coalition

OUR HISTORY
Rachel Coalition, a division of Jewish Family Service of MetroWest, began in 1997 as a grassroots organization of Jewish Family Service, United Jewish Communities of MetroWest and the National Council of Jewish Women, Essex County Section.  Today, Rachel Coalition uniquely combines the resources and commitment of affiliated groups, social services and its nine partners of northern New Jersey organizations to assist domestic violence victims and their families with a wide array of services.  Since its inception, the Coalition has served hundreds of men, women and children.  On average, 40 calls are received monthly via the Coalition's crisis response line.

OUR MISSION
The mission of Rachel Coalition is to improve the lives of those affected by domestic violence by providing a comprehensive and coordinated response in the MetroWest Jewish community and in the community at large.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
FT Domestic Violence Court Advocate and Crisis Counselor
Work in Newark court environment and Essex County Family Justice Center; provide crisis counseling to victims of domestic violence; supervise volunteers who provide information and referrals; order and maintain information and resource pamphlets from various agencies; collect data to generate reports for grant funding; and participate in community training.
Requirements include: Spanish speaking, MSW, some experience working with domestic violence and social services, occasional travel by car to various office locations.  E-mail resumes here.
