Runners and walkers of all ages came out for the 11th Annual Run for Rachel on Sunday, May 22, 2011 at the Livingston Oval. The morning included a 5K USA Track and Field – New Jersey Women's Open Championship Race; a 3K Walk; and a Kids' Run. More than 100 volunteers helped as 488 runners competed.
Thanks to a new initiative with FirstGiving, participants in the Run for Rachel raised more than $70,000.
In the men's category, Nick Birosik of Easton, Pennsylvania took first place with a time of 16:54. Last year's winner, Gary Rosenberg of Morristown came in second with a time of 17:17 and John Hogan of Washington Township again took the third place spot with a time of 17:41. For the women, Elena Rozhko of Morristown finished in first place in 17:43, Catherine Smith of Wayne came in second with a time of 18:08 and Jen Found of Hopewell came in third with a time of 18:15.
